Reward charts for kids
A reward chart turns everyday chores and routines into something a child can see, tick off and feel proud of. KindTally is a free-to-start reward chart that lives on your phone instead of the fridge door — built for UK families, with no ads and nothing about your child shared publicly.
How to set up a reward chart
1. Pick a few things that matter
Start with three or four chores or routine steps — teeth, school bag, tidy-up. Fewer items means more wins, which is what keeps a reward chart going.
2. Decide what a tick is worth
Each task can add points or pocket money towards a goal. In KindTally the pocket money figure is a visual motivational target you set, not a payment we handle.
3. Tick it off together
Children tick tasks in their own child mode with a PIN. If they tap by accident there is a short undo window, so a mis-tap never spoils the day.
4. Celebrate the streaks, not perfection
Progress bars and gentle streaks reward effort. Nothing is shared publicly and there are no ads — child views are designed to the UK Children's Code.

Reward chart questions
- What age are reward charts for?
- Reward charts work well from around age 3 up to early secondary school. Younger children respond to pictures and immediate ticks; older children usually prefer points or pocket money targets and a say in which tasks appear.
- Do reward charts actually work?
- They work best when the chart is small, consistent and focused on effort rather than perfection. Positive reinforcement is most effective when the reward is quick, predictable and agreed with the child in advance.
- Is a digital reward chart better than a printable one?
- A paper chart is fine, but it gets lost and only lives in one room. A digital chart is on any phone, both parents see the same list, and the ticks are recorded so you can look back at a week honestly.
- Does it work for ADHD or additional needs?
- KindTally was designed with ADHD-friendly families in mind: short lists, a break-it-down step helper, visual timers and calm language rather than nagging or punishment.
- Is KindTally free to start?
- Yes — you can set up a family, add children and run a reward chart on the free plan. Paid plans add extra features; pricing is on the pricing page.
